Learning outcomes
Satisfy compulsory minimum requirements for seafarers basic training in compliance with STCW ’95 Code, A-VI/1 section,(and subsequent amendments), related to the basic safety training on the personal survival techniques, the Ministerial Decree of April 6th, 1987, the Directorial Decree of October17th, 2001, issued by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and following notes, Legislative Decree n. 136 of July 7th, 2011 – Implementation of the 2008/102/EC Directive on the minimum level of training for seafarers.
Contents
The course provides knowledge, skills and practical abilities about the procedures of safety at work, employment and development of human resources on board, comprehension and communication of orders related to the tasks on board, emergency procedures, precautions that have to be assumed for the prevention of the risk of pollution of the marine environment, social responsibilities.
Target group
Seafarers having a valid inscription at the Italian SEAFARERS’ OFFICES and seamen from foreign countries.
Seafarers shall receive basic safety training and education in compliance with the provisions of STCW’95 Code, A-VI / 1 section (Regulation VI /I of the 07/07/2011Legislative Decree).

Course prerequisites
Certificate of good health
The maritime personnel, in addition to what it has already been specifically provided by the rules about requirements for access to the training courses, must follow them in chronological order as shown below:
1) Personal safety and social responsibilities course – PSSR;
2) personal Survival techniques course;
3) Basic fire-fighting course;
4)Advanced fire-fighting course.
Training material
Training materials to support the teaching, audiovisual equipment and reference books are in accordance with the requirements provided for by rules and guidelines of reference.
Examining committee
The committee is chaired by a representative member of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport6, a member of the teaching staff, and the course Director.
Certificate issued
Certificate of final examination according to the models provided by law in force.
